In 1987, he graduated from Paramus High School and completed his bachelor's degree from the University of New York at Albany, and moved to California to study entertainment law at UCLA in 1991. At Bicycle Casino in April 2005, Jamie went on to win his first major title, earning $54,225. He registered 7 more money finishes in the next 12 months at California tournaments and became member of Bodog.com, and agreed to find celebrities to wear the "Bodog" label while playing in the main event.
